| 2 years on...I've never really bothered with blogs. Chronicling thoughts into story-like entries on a web-page seems a little long and arduous to me. By the time i've finished writing down one thought, i've had about 20 more that i want to put down on paper...only half of them will be forgotten by the time i start the next paragraph.
However, it's good to be able to speak your mind. If not to an audience, then at least to be able to see the words yourself. To know that what your think and feel is actually real. More importantly, to remember the things that matter. I'll be posting a bit more frequently from now. The topics will be varied and random, but there will be posts.
Life has changed a lot since my last visit to Xanga. I've learned lessons in life and love, both good and bad. I've made new friends, and ended up losing a few old ones as well. I had new ambitions, new dreams and new hopes but unfortunately, most (if not all) of my time is currently spent either at college or work. Free time is something i do not have the luxury of, and it saddens me.
When did life become so complicated? What happened to the carefree days of playing ball out in the street with friends or watching TV and eating ice cream? It seems like an eternity since i was 16 and happy.
I never used to understand people that had 5 and 10 year life plans. Back when i lived each day as i wanted to, planning ahead made no sense. It was all about the fun. Now i've got to worry about too many things. Planning is my only option. Study till july, then uni for 3 years, then 4 years in the Marine Corps, then work till i retire, then die like everyone else. Out of this plan, the ONLY thing i'm looking forward to is my 4 years in the USMC.
My life is set for the next few months. A monotonous routine of study and work. I keep telling myself that in the end, it'll all be worth it. That a degree will benefit my career and guarantee a decent retirement. But i don't believe the words. I force myself to listen to them, but i don't truly feel that my time will be well spent in education.
I'm conflicted at present. I know what i want, but i also know what is required for long-term success. Unfortunately the downside is that i've never been one for patience....
...and to that end, i'll be applying for a US green card in the near future. I know i can pass the PFT reqs for Marine Infantry and i have no problem signing away 4 years of my life to them, as long as i get in at least 1-2 combat tours.
Life's too short. I don't want to spend the next 3 years in uni studying my ass off, only to get blown up by an IED once i'm on active duty. If uni doesn't measure up to be the experience i'm hoping for, then i'll be heading out to San Diego for 12 weeks of a real education.
Oh, and i'm now on facebook. Look for Nathan Jonas Anderson. I should be the only result that appears. | | |
| Guess who's back, back again. NJ's back. Tell a friend.Hey kids.
Just checking in to let y'all know i'm still here, alive and kicking ass. I do have a longer entry planned but i've just finished a 6:30am shift and i'm back to work at 4 so i'm gonna get some well-deserved sleep.
If i don't come home and crash out, i'll post up my return speech.
Oh and Jessica? Paintballing was awesome. =D

| Wow, what a week!
Monday has probably been the best birthday i've ever had! (and i think quite possibly the best day any xbox gamer's ever had)
Paintballing was SICK! No other way to describe it.
I spent sunday evening in camden running around trying to find some camos for paintballing. Only found some american print bottoms but they still looked awesome so i bought em, got some extra thick socks and waterproofed my timberlands one more time. Spent the night on Perfect Dark Zero fraggin it up on live and ended up goin to bed at 2am.
Monday:
Woke up at 6pm cos i couldn't sleep. Got dressed, had some food and spent 2 hours watching new Lost eps. Got outta the house at around 9pm to meet my mate Diamond (Coung) Vu and head to High Wycombe. Now everything sounds good right? Wrong. A journey from Leyton to Stratford that was supposed to take 5 mins ended up taking half a bloody hour! Piece of advice, do NOT travel during rush hour on the central line. I had to wait as 6 trains went by, all packed with people!
So i finally get to stratford, meet Diamond and jump back on the train just as the doors are closing. Sweet, our paintball trip finally begins. We high tail it to oxford circus, then head to marylebone to catch the train to High Wycombe.
As we're walkin onto the concourse at Marylebone, our train pulls out of the damn station and i'm starting to think to myself that this day is doomed to failure. Then the message board flashes up a new announcement. "The next train to high wycombe is in 20 minutes" RESULT! Just enough time to call into college with my "plausible" excuse of being off sick. Amazingly that worked and i'd just earned a day off college. We grab some food and, after spending the better part of 8 minutes queueing up for tickets, high tail it to Platform 2 and start running for the doors. Turns out those platforms are LONG! I thought we'd made it once i reached the train and as i was about to open the doors i saw Diamond still running down the platform.
Fuck, Here's me leaning up against this out of service train waiting for the doors to open and Diamond's halfway down the god damn platform still running for the train. 2 out of service trains later we end up at the one bound for High Wycombe. Out of breath and laughing like idiots we jump aboard and relax.
After about 50 mins or so we end up in High Wycombe. I'm starting to understand its name. The station itself is precariously located in the middle of this steep hill (put it this way, i doubt there are any skateboarders in that town and if there are, they probably have a few broken limbs) and there's not a single muslim person in sight. Ah how i miss towns like that. No "Safe Blud!" or "Allah!" crap
Turns out we missed the shuttle bus that was s'posed to ferry people from the station to the event so we ended up waiting around for another 30 mins while someone from the paintball skirmish drove down to pick us up.
12:00 and we're finally there! The teams are just finishing their inductions and we're grabbing gear and buying extra munitions. Then the instructor hands us some damn coveralls. FUCK! 25 bucks wasted on camos for nothing! I. Am. PISSED!
I grab my gun and hit the first range (speedball).
To Be Continued. | | |

| Welcome to An_X_Jay's Xanga console. How may i confuse you today?Wow, I am such an idiot.
You may have noticed the "free trial" message in my last picture posting. Well that basically gave me Xanga premium. In short, better storage space, no ad-banner at the top of my page and skins!
Yep, skins.
So when i first got Xanga i thought "cool! Skinnable interface! I'm gonna have me some fun with this" and I started browsing user submitted skins and saving the ones I liked for editing shenanigans later on.
Turns out i wasn't saving them, I was APPLYING them. And once my premium trial started up they kicked into action and changed the damn look of my page to you guys from this:

to this:

The reason i've never noticed the switch is cos I've got my private Xanga homepage stored in my favourites so naturally I never see the user version of my page, till I accidentally clicked the link today.
So to all my users out there who were losing patience with the Xanga skins. Don't worry, problem's been fixed.
If it's any consolation, I'd probably have gone mad trying to use it too.
Peace!
