Is there anyone out there besides me who is concerned about the back cover of November Reader's Digest?

Please write to RD and to Dove Corporation regarding your concerns. Contact information is on the web for both.

Please be kind in your response to them. They are people, too

Yes, I do tear the back cover off

Our lesson is Sunday School yesterday was from Acts 2. We are familiar with the dove, wind, breath, tongues, fire being associated with the Holy Spirit. Not usually do we think of Oil.

In the Old Testament oil was used for anointing. It was the sign of being equipped for a specific task. The Holy Spirit equips us for specific tasks because discouragements and setbacks come and our commitment needs to last longer than... ummmmm 10 minutes.

Remember Psalm 23? "Thou anointest my head with oil...in the presence of mine enemies"
.

We are nerved, we are fortified, we are comforted in the Renaissance English sense of  "comfort". Latin: con and fortis.... "with strength". Profoundly to be comforted isn't to be pampered or consoled.  It is to be strengthened. There’s an old tapestry of William the Conqueror hanging in an English museum.  The artwork is titled William Comforts His Soldiers.  It depicts William himself standing behind his men with the point of his sword one millimetre away from their posteriors.

Friend Karen mentioned that today maybe it would be a hatpin.

I can do it after all

The past number of times I've baked bread, it has just turned out awful. I have many glorified bread crumbs, because I can't bear to waste the ingredients. Just yesterday I discovered I was using stone ground whole wheat graham flour. I had been unable to get the whole wheat flour from my usual source.

Today my bread was just wonderful nice and my heart is at rest.

I have a friend who is hunting the book Letters to Philip by Walter Trobisch. Would anyone have a copy they would be willing to part with? I would pay for the postage if you would care to donate the book to her. This friend of mine has a friend abroad that could use this right now.

Please 'message me'. And thanks so much!

I agree with both of you who have commented so far... but my friend saw the title in another language and she thought that was the title, but we are ordering several other titles by the same author. So we are hoping these will be used by God in this person's life. Thanks everyone.

Every morning and evening a mockingbird sits in our tree in the backyard twertling and singing away. That's what we humans say that birds do... sing.

Anyhow, today I was out in the garden picking string beans, listening to my cheery friend up there above me. I just love hearing all the mixtures and blends of calls going on and on.

But you know, birds have calls pre-selected for them. They have no choice what to sing. If you're a robin you can only sing like a robin. If you are a crow, you sound like a crow. Even mockingbirds are limited.

God's people can sing all kinds of music, lyrics, texts, melodies, arrangements, harmonies... almost unlimited. God's creation brings glory to Him, and think of the glory we bring to Him when we sing to Him. We are far more important to God and our praise must be so heart-warming to Him.

Let's praise Him.
