    Independence

For RakkaRay, JustMeAndy, Buddly47, Basilwire, and Flatpick46...I am honored to know you and count you among my friends.

    fantastic fireworks
    watching and wondering
    while free children
    take liberty for granted

    an explosive spectrum
    of celebration
    that sounds more like
    gunfire than revelry

    I would gladly
    stand up
    next to you, I think,
    holding my neighbors hand

    singing, swaying,
    hands over hearts
    I smell the smoke of
    red glare and rockets

    my eyes see what
    my soul already knows:
    these united states--the
    greatest country of all time

    Have a wonderful holiday, Xangans!

    Blame the Vain

    Poolside

    ten year olds talk
    about hybrid clubs
    pimped out playstations:
    cash fund vernacular,
    sunburned self importance

    jaded children
    debutante diatribes
    vacant eyed trophy wives
    all access--wireless
    and otherwise

    an oasis of
    tan line temptation
    where time splashes
    slippery, elusive
    in shallow water
