| Update on LuthienI told Amber that I would give the blog friends an update on little Luthien for her. The early part of the story can be found here http://www.xanga.com/MamaMelian. On Monday Luthien had another x-ray that didn't look very good so she was admitted to the hospital. Yesterday she had surgery to remove some of the fluid and infection from her lungs. I haven't talked to anyone yet this morning, but last night she was still on the ventilator in the pediatric ICU. The good news is that her fever is down and she is getting some much needed sleep. We've been to the hospital a couple times and so far Kary and Amber seem to be exhausted but emotionally good. They know beyond a doubt that God is in control and that gives them peace. Some specific things to pray for would be: Healing for Luthien, rest and comfort for the whole family, skill and wisdom for the doctors, the new baby that Amber is carrying and her own health as she is in those early weeks of pregnancy, both Amber and Kary's work situations, finances, and continued comfort in the knowledge that our Heavenly Father is control and he loves little Luthien. | | |
| Zoo Pictures - Part one Mom and I took the gang to the zoo last Thursday. Of course we took the required group pictures. Taking along three strollers was the key to success. Containment of everyone who was three years old or younger was of utmost importance.
I liked this picture because everyone except Abbie was looking at us with a "smile for the camera" type look on their face. Abbie is turned around inspecting the interesting backdrop that they are posed in front of.
| Two steps forward, one step backWe had the opportunity to work on the basement some last night. Jeremy got the drywall stuff finished and primed. We sorted through all of the paint left by previous owners and found the right green. It was wet in this picture so it is a bit of a different color, but dry it looks great.
Jeremy began laying the carpet. He made a lot of progress last night.
Just proving that life is crazier than anything that I could ever make up, I got an email as we sat on the couch to admire the progress. Do you remember David helping me find the right wallpaper border on ebay? Last night I got a refund for the border and a note from the ebay store owner's family explaining that she was in the hospital in a coma. Seriously. I spent some time on ebay again this morning. This is my best option. I am taking a gamble and I have purchased this.
It is the right brand. The description says candles and pears. The colors look right, but it is impossible to tell for sure in this picture. I don't know the item number of the discontinued border that I need. The way I see it, it is worth taking a chance on this one because if it doesn't work we'll have to buy a new border for the whole room and that will cost quite a bit. Of course the seller only ships on Saturdays so we'll have to wait a while before we know how this will turn out.

| A Random Beauty TipFrom Elizabeth "First you wipe your slobber off. Then you look pretty." I guess that I should add that she was explaining the process as she was doing it to herself and smiling quite proudly about her accomplishment. | | |
