Shin-Yo Productions

WoW

Its been awhile since I updated Xanga.  My previous posts were mainly about working on new film projects.  To be honest I haven't really been able to work on new ones until recently again.  Its strange when holding a camera in your hand.  To some people its like holding any other object, but to me its like holding a paint brush.  Artists have their blank canvas to work on. For me I have the whole world to work with.  The beauty of a video camera is how it can capture everything seen through my view point and I can share what I feel to others.

I've been blessed to meet others who share my interests and who have helped me to make videos again.  Its definitely fun to work with these amazing people.  Hopefully more projects will be underway and I can share these with everyone. Till then enjoy these two new videos made.

The Biggest problem with filming that i've come to realize is Time........

This has always been a factor since I first started working on video projects back in high school.  There just isn't enough time to finish out projects when working with more then a few handful of people.  Thus the drama project is indefinitely delayed.

In other news, simpler projects such as music video's and shorts which are much more easier to film will be made shortly.

Well the first day of filming proved interesting.  I've come to the conclusion that lot of time is necessary even to film the smallest of shots.  I'm very grateful for a patient and supporting team in this production.  Audio proved a bit on the downside.  We're gonna need to work on the audio quality.  The video seemed pretty good but lots of mishaps and such proved a bit too much.  The actors did a good job with somewhat minimal retakes.... ok lots of retakes hahaha.  It was definitely fun though.  We filmed for about 5 hours for about a 3 min scene.  Also we're gonna be redoing everything to try and get better audio quality.  This has definitely been a good experiment for future shootings.  Lots of production pictures are up but i'll post them once the video project is complete.  2 new actors are on board and i'll be screening them Sunday.  Good Luck!

I forgot all about Xanga.

This seems like the best place to log my progress for the next few weeks since there really isn't a blog on FaceBook.  Well many things have changed in just the course of a few months.  I'm in Atlanta working at the moment until next year for Grad School to start.  Till then I recently picked up my old Samsung and realized how long i've been away from filming.  I rewatched a few of my unfinished projects and realized man........ I forgot how much I loved this.  So I recently got a new camera.

Canon HV20

Records at HD with 24p (cinema function) and audio/lighting manual controls.  Ideal prosumer camera to start with.  With an attached external microphone and wide angle lens its a nice piece of equipment to start filming with a budget under $1200.

I did a few demo shots with the camera just to play around with it and now its ready to do my first main project.  Its going to be a korean style drama skit.  Expect a trailer for it soon once filming starts.  Which brings me back to here.  I wanna use Xanga to log my progress in this project.  As of now we have the beginning parts of the script finished.  The actors are ready, equipment is ready, production team is ready and first day of filming will be 10/12/07.

Till then wish me luck and good filming!

Several months down the road.... Xanga seems to be quiet so I haven't posted updates yet.  My second video is under way and its gonna be a sad one this time.  Scenes are kinda difficult to shoot so it might take some time but hopefully it'll turn out good.  I'll post a preview for it soon.
