  • Lucky Star Decepticons

megatron & gang spoof lucky star

[ vid by kkal via youtuber Reiji314 ]

what if... just what if an evil, alien robot race landed on Earth, specifically in the prefecture of Saitama in Japan, just to take over a high school full of cute girls while in the midst of their quest for energeon cubes, and did a cute little dance number starring Megatron (Kagami), Starscream (Konata), Soundwave (Tsukasa), and Shockwave (Miyuki)?

the above has to be one of the strangest spoofs i've seen lately.  i consider myself a fan of both Transformers 1st gen and the girls of Lucky Star, and was completely drawn in by this video which had me chuckling through out.  but i can't help but wonder: who in the world, in their right mind would combine the two?

another Lucky Star spoof, but this is kinda scary / gross...  click at your own discretion; this is just for comparison(?)'s sake, and i am not liable for what happens.

  • What is an Olympian?

you know that there are Olympic trials going on right now, with athletes being selected to represent their countries at the upcoming Summer Olympics in Beijing, right?

is this the kind of Olympian that the United States want at the Olympics representing us?

the following are some of the things mentioned in the ESPN article about Carmelo Anthony:

pled guilty to driving while impaired, avoiding a more serious charge of DUI

suspended by his basketball team for 2 games for DUI arrest

caught with marijuana in his bag in 2004, but charges were dropped

suspended for 15 games for throwing a punch in a game last season

appeared in a video encouraging people to "stop snitching" / discouraging people from going to police with information about crimes

now that he's paying a fine, doing community service with a state driving program for 24 hours, and serving one year probation, Anthony's defense attorney has the gall to imply that his client was unfairly punished because he was a pro basketball player and a celebrity.

you may say that Carmelo Anthony's history has absolutely nothing to do with olympics or winning the gold medal.  but i feel quite differently.  being a role model, sticking to a higher standard, sportsmanship, fair play, country and team above personal achievement.  doesn't that come with the territory of being an athlete and an Olympian, someone who trains hard and disciplines himself for a goal?  perhaps it's a little unfair, because it may be that i am picking on just one individual who's going through a tough time personally; but while reading that ESPN article, i just felt that Anthony is not the kind of Olympian that i want representing my country.  he is not someone that i could be proud of, especially when he repeatedly breaks the law, and acts unsportsmanly and violently within the arena of his sports, something he's supposed to be a professional at.

the same issue of personal, moral character can be debated about in the area of politics, for that matter...
