I have been obsessively watching 24/7 Olympics coverage on NBC, MSNBC, USATODAY, and the other channels in different languages. I cannot believe people don't believe that the China gymnasts aren't sixteen. It's not that I'm rooting for China specifically or anything - I always tend to root for the underdogs regardless. I feel compelled to remind people that this is the Olympics and even though we are in China, the Chinese people does have a sense of right and wrong. Sure, you can count off numerous things like the replaced girl singer and the pre-staged footsteps. Those are for aesthetic reasons. Not the actual competition. The Chinese team won that gold fair and square. I hate it when announcers say things like "oh, the Chinese gymnast got scored higher and blah blah blah..." I wish they had more FAITH in this world.
I'm hoping for a strong finish for the Olympic race. I respect every athlete who competes, regardless if he/she got a medal, because to reach that peak point of the event, so much work went into it. It's simply amazing to think about how many hours of dedication the athletes put into preparation and rounds and rounds of eliminations. -salute-
Moved in to Berkeley this weekend. My apartment is amazingly cozy. I keep on taking naps. That might have something to do with sleeping at 4am talking to my floormates and catching up. I miss college life mucho. Better keep up with academics as well...soon.
