  • Waste of Time

Have you ever find yourself in a situation where you want to go but could not find the right words to say to the person you're talking to? You don't want to seem RUDE so you continue to listen to their endless rant and ideals while you're worrying about your next schedule. There's no right way to cut it right to the point, because it's RUDE. Since when has society been ruled by RUDENESS? Always, of course! In my opinion, the lack of clothing everywhere is RUDE to the generations before. People are just more brash these days than ever. Yet, we still superficially talk about how RUDE it is when we drive and somebody cut in front of us. how RUDE it is for whoever to show up late. This word seriously pops up everywhere. especially among hypocrites. tsk tsk.

Another thought - Berk has taught me how to be diverse. I carried a bag my friend got me from India today, wore a bracelet made in China and another one made in Mexico, and used a wallet from Japan. Made me feel quite international. :)

  • OLYMPICS

I have been obsessively watching 24/7 Olympics coverage on NBC, MSNBC, USATODAY, and the other channels in different languages. I cannot believe people don't believe that the China gymnasts aren't sixteen. It's not that I'm rooting for China specifically or anything - I always tend to root for the underdogs regardless. I feel compelled to remind people that this is the Olympics and even though we are in China, the Chinese people does have a sense of right and wrong. Sure, you can count off numerous things like the replaced girl singer and the pre-staged footsteps. Those are for aesthetic reasons. Not the actual competition. The Chinese team won that gold fair and square. I hate it when announcers say things like "oh, the Chinese gymnast got scored higher and blah blah blah..." I wish they had more FAITH in this world.

I'm hoping for a strong finish for the Olympic race. I respect every athlete who competes, regardless if he/she got a medal, because to reach that peak point of the event, so much work went into it. It's simply amazing to think about how many hours of dedication the athletes put into preparation and rounds and rounds of eliminations. -salute-

Moved in to Berkeley this weekend. My apartment is amazingly cozy. I keep on taking naps. That might have something to do with sleeping at 4am talking to my floormates and catching up. I miss college life mucho. Better keep up with academics as well...soon.

  • last day of work and new promises

Some say promises are meant to be broken. I believe in keeping my promises. I always bring the kids food on wednesdays because I promised them beforehand that if they behave, they get yummy treats. My other coworkers are sometimes astonished to find that I prepare a treat for EVERY kid. The probability of EVERY kid behaving is 0.01%, just like Phelps winning his 7th gold in the 100m butterfly. But he did win it, and so I do have expectations of EVERY kid behaving. It hasn't happened yet, but that doesn't mean it won't ever happen.

I finished my last day of work with the kids yesterday. It was a bittersweet moment as I bidded goodbye to my favorite students and my ever so supportive coworkers. This has been a great experience inside and out. I've finally tasted the sweet success of planning ahead. I enjoyed my time teaching the kids and I know they also liked me for my weird sense of humor and my stories. I've been practicing on my story telling skills! Not to say that it's still far from perfect, but at least I'm a little better by narrating to an entire room of kids. During the last story I told, every kid was listening by the middle of the story. = proud accomplishment.

Now that my work is almost over [I still have a few secretarial work to do next week] I'm focusing on my upcoming semester. I'm going to limit my intake of alky. I know there's always the pressure at social gatherings to drink and drink, but it's quite bad for my overall health. I also plan to leave early at parties. I don't care if I'll be the only one walking back to my FAR apt. I'm going to sleep before 1am everyday, unless I'm being transported somewhere and cannot be back. Those occasions will be rare and limited as well. I really need to focus on my academics and going for that pre-dental requirements with a thirst I need to quench.

I do believe in promises, and I will make sure I keep mine.

Last thing - HAPPY EARLY BDAY ALLY!

  • temporary TATTOOS

Ever since I started working with kids, I've been FASCINATED by temporary tattoos. Yes, those things that make imprints on your skin and can be rubbed off in about a week. I don't know why but I can't seem to get over the art of tattoos. I feel like a little kid sometimes, when I collect my tattoos and put them on parts of my body. Makes me feel powerful that I have the ability to change my body - even if it's only for a few days. Hope I'm making sense. :)

LAST TWO DAYS WORKING WITH KIDS. I'm really going to miss them.

  • PLANNING

Somehow I simply do not find enough bags to put all my stuff in. I'm moving to school in less than 4 days and still have not packed anything. It's getting ridiculous because I still can't find my stuff and do not know where everything is in my room. YES ridiculous I tell you. I went shopping with an amazing friend today :) got myself a brand new planner! YESSSS. It's so exciting! I love documenting my everyday and keep myself on track. Hopefully this will make my life super easier to organize. I'm going to focus on ACADEMICS this year. No more playing around. It's time to hit the books. Hard.

On a side note, I noticed how half white, half asian girls usually have the asian face and the white body. Know what I mean? Asian people are usually quite petite and small, but HAPA have the curvey longy body while maintaining their asian faces. That's amazing. =]

ReflectionsEverything in life is temporary. Darkness of the night; or a bright day Even sunrise is temporary; so is sunset. So if things are going good, enjoy it because it won't last forever. And if things are going bad, don't worry. Because it won't last forever either. Everything passes by.
