| Spiderman IIII spent my memorial day today with a friend of mine. We went and watched Spiderman III and then later went to 2kThai for dinner.
First, the movie. It was a little longer and cheesier than I would have liked, but it tied up some loose ends I thought, so it was pretty good. The rumors of the funny "emo peter parker" now made sense. I think I was actually more excited about the Harry Potter trailer. Looks like there's going to be lots of magic and effects. I'm definitely going to go see it when it comes out. That one should be extra fun, since I've actually read the book already, unlike for the other 4 movies. I still want to go see Pirates 3 and Shrek the 3rd. So much to go see....sigh....
2kThai was pretty tasty. A little bit small on the portions, since we had no problems finishing up 3 dishes with just the two of us. But then again, maybe I ate extra because of the steroids (not anabolic) I'm taking right now make me hungrier. The price was OK, and I had a fun time getting to know him better.
I also went to the Armadillo used CD shop and got two new CDs I've been looking forward to. The new Linkin Park CD and the Maroon 5 CD. I'm currently listening to Linkin Park.
Gotta say, today was probably the most relaxing yet fun day in a while.

| Just a little log for timeI bought a Fuji Ace road bike in Sacramento off of Craig's list for
$275. It feels a teeny bit small, and the lower gears don't stay
in place, but otherwise I think it's great. I did the airport
loop today (15.25 miles), and the last time I did it on my regular
bike, it took me 80 minutes. Today, with the road bike, I was
able to do it in 62 minutes. I think my next goal will be to
break 60 minutes. Feeling pretty good for that right now

| This morning's Seattle times editorial on the dangers of religious leaders hit the spot for me. I've always felt this view, but this person really put it in words quite nicely.

| 1 week late, but Triathlon updateLast weekend on Saturday, I drove down to Stanford with the UCD
tri-team for the Stanford Treeathlon. I got a ride with George,
Kyle and Becca, and we somehow managed to fit the 4 of us and 4 bikes
(along with bags) inside a volvo. We had to take apart our bikes
in order to do this. We got to Stanford, chekced in at
rigisteration, and then checked into the luxurious motel 6, since the
race was on Sunday morning.
In total, 41 of us from Davis were racing. I was kinda nervous
because it was my first time, but unlike high school swimming, I wasn't
expected to do well or anything, so I wasn't as nervous as I was for
those. We got up at 4:00am, left motel 6 at 5, and got to
Stanford campus around 5:15. Our team was the first team there,
so we got to pick the transition spots.
I was in the 11th wave (out of 14), so my race didn't start till
8:45. We started off in the 50m pool, where we had to swim around
the edges 4 times (500m total). The cutoff time was 10 minutes,
and if you didn't make it, you got a 2 minute penalty. I realized
how dfferet it was to swim in a triathlon compared to doing laps.
First off, you can't see a thing because the water is saturated with
bubbles from everyone kicking. Second, it hurts, cause again,
everyone is kicking in all directions.
Biking was quite entertaining, because I got to borrow an actual road
bike from my sister. Unfortunately, I'd only ridden it like once
before this (I trained with my mountain bike :P ), and so I barely knew
how to shift gears. At one point I had to dismount, because I
kept switching gears in the wrong direction wen I was going up a
hill. I thnk I could go a lot faster if I got to train with a
road bike. Overall, the bike was great. I got to pass some
people and the 12 mile sceneary was awesome.
Ah, running. My arch nemesis. I essentially jogged the 3.1
miles. I hate running, and I suck at it. This is where like
20 people passed me. But, when I finished, a bunch of my team
mates were rooting me on at the finish line, and that was awesome.
My time was 8:37 (500m swim), 48:21 (12 mile bike), 30:35 (3.1 mile run)
and of 441 people, I got 342nd. The swim, bike and run
individually I got 141st, 331st, and 387st, respectively. So, not
bad for a first try, I think. All in all, it was very fun.
One of my team mates even got a photo of me :)
