Ore no baka!

Currently listening: The Monkees - I'm a believer (and no, I didn't watch Shrek!)

I forgot to say in my last post I have the raw scan for that Keitaro-Naru scene I was intending to draw. So forgetful I got yesterday, I just came to remember today while I was buying some stuff at a local mall (being that a new shower curtain). Talk about unrelated topics strung together!

Well, and without further ado, let me give you both of the raw Keitaro and Naru drawings.

keitaro raw sm  naru raw sm
Now, Guess who this pair was supposed to be?

I'm doing the two characters separately, and then I plan to place them together after the line correction and coloring in PS. By the way, Is there anyone who thinks going beyond Photoshop 7 is a waste of money? I truly do. There's so little I can use from the new stuff it has, and honestly most of the improvements and new plugins are aimed to those who want to enhance their camera pictures, as opposed to those plugins with the drawing (or designing) people in mind. What good would I get from an advanced fading plugin to hide stuff in a picture if I don't work with pictures to start with? hm!

All I can say about the progress of this drawing is, Naru beware!

Now, on the anime side of things, I just finished watching the whole 9.5 (or ten, if you fit the OVA into the timeline) chapters of REC.

I liked very much the story of a girl by the name of Onda Aka, an aspiring Seiyuu, meeting and developing a relationship with a salaryman working in the advertising industry, called Matsumaro Fumihiko. The dynamics of how they meet, the varied amounts of Audrey Hepburn movie quotes (to the extent to name some chapters, or all-I can't know very well- by Audrey's movies) and how they finally string hands together makes a nice romantic story. I got to finish it in an evening because every chapter is 20 minutes long, so besides not being boring, the producers kept it short and simple. The character design is good, being Aka a kawaii kind of girl to look at, but her manager is attractive, too.

I wanted to include an Aka's screencap, but that will have to wait until I finish using the DVD drive. I'll have to include it on a later update.

Now I guess I can consider watching Pani Poni Dash one more time.

Well, ja ne.

Life goes on after the house came down burning

Currently listening: Geddy Lee - Window To The World

We need to move on, get over what we feel is our trying time to see there's always a door to exit. And if such door does not seem to be open, I'm pretty confident there's always a window.

It seems She, the voice for an eternity (my friend who used to call herself Fionn Jameson in the writing business) has closed her blog already. One step closer to shut down a past, in my point of view, one step further to her next step. I just hope she's all well and not depressed, as that's the impression I'm getting.

Now, on other friendship topics, I just got word from Shiory's dad, Her mom and her new husband are moving back to this island, because they were living in Minatitlan, state of Veracruz, and the weather struck rather badly there. Up to this time the flooding levels are pretty high, and it's too bad seeing all your belongings wash down the flow. Basically she's looking for a known place to shelter and have less problems raising three girls (Shiory's smaller sisters). The moment he told me, Shiory's dad was on his way to meet his ex-wife. (what an awful title, indeed, btw).

Anyways, the good point is, Shiory's sisters are coming back in town. Since I'm friends with them, I guess that will make a "the more, the merrier" circle because I know they'll like to hang around with Onee-chan. So I think is good to have them back. Minatitlan is a pretty dead city. Probably what will happen to this island after the Oil Industry withdraws once the offshore oilwells are empty or too expensive to keep. I've never been there but passing by on greyhound, and the town looks pretty empty. I can't find the right words to describe it, probably lonely people looking for something, scratching the walls on the streets on the hope to find something to have the investors and the money-waggin' foreigners (including there national foreigners) who would spend their money on just about anything overpriced good. Looking empty streets to see if they find their former wealth and splendor of the past.

On other stuff, I've recently finished watching Lamune. For me, the storytelling flow started kind of slow, and put it away for a while. Once I started picking up the main story idea, it came down easily, but tried to keep watching at intervals, because the story is so tender, I wanted to give each chapter a thought before watching the next one.

After I finished, the end left me with some questions about the other characters, but since it was an anime based on a game, we actually ask not much more further. In the end I came off liking the story and the sheer tenderness two persons, growing together since childhood, can harbor for each other.

Now, I'm still thinking if I should tackle that Pani Poni Dash that has been sitting there waiting for me to see. There's a lot of anime I still want to watch, without reruns. Probably my next post will be about what I've seen, and how much anime I'm scheduling myself to see, provided is available. Meantime, I guess I'll watch Yawaraka Sangokushi Tsukisase!! Ryofuko-chan, which word has been spread is a rather funny OVA of unknown content to me.

Joey.

There's mud in my shoes!

    Currently listening: Led Zeppelin - D'yer Mak'er

I just came in from Fionn's blog, not feeling really well about what I've read. She's finally said something, but it's downright saddening. But all of my wonderings, my questionings, everything has been answered.

So, she has been like, down because she's not been writing, and that's what troubles her. I remember when she decided to focus on it, asking herself "Am I really sure I want to spend the rest of my life hunching down on a computer screen, secluded in my apartment just to get a living?". (I hope I haven't changed that statement too much, I can't remember where she actually said it, but she said it!).

Now she has decided once she's done with her current job, she's no longer in the writing business. She's not gonna be Fionn Jameson, she's not going to use that blog, anymore.

What will happen to her? I can't know. I know she'll do good on whatever she chooses to do next. She has a natural gift to anything she does, it's amazing. There's not much people like that walking down the street. She only needs to recognize what she wants. Then tackle the task.

As ominous as it sounds, she's hinting she may not even come back online anymore. Probably School has been calling her strongly and life attending in a University demands a lot of time. Probably she's getting married and the probable husband is virtually taking her hands off the keyboard because he doesn't want to share his sweetheart with her fans. Probably she has found a job demanding her whole time. Probably her parents are mad at her because she doesn't get tanned. Who knows?

Anyways... being serious, I like to compare life to mountain climbing. Once you reached the summit, you need to decide what else you want to do. And it doesn't mean you have to achieve success! it just means you reached a goal a summit so you can then decide what peak, what mountain, what hill you want to climb now. Of course, being there you can clearly see the valley and the roads you have to walk. What direction you're going to aim for.

In the end, If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

We people in the world are not static. Things, occupations, jobs, are passing stages, as much as life is. We only need to deal with it. And hope this one lasts a little more, and we'd like it a little more than the last.

Last, but not least, I'd like to make an open offer of friendship to her (because she's not gonna be Fionn Jameson anymore, Remember?). I'll be here. As long as I can. Anytime you wanna come around, feel free to open the door and step right in. You still have my mail, and if you don't then there's these:

lerxst11(at)hotmail.com (and my handle in MSN Messenger)
lerxst(at)starmedia.com (the usual, recovered from a failure)

On the meantime, good luck finding your new name or handler, your new focus, and your new all. Just don't forget us, miss four names (aka Your Voice For Eternity).

Dearly (and very concerned) Joey Kaye.

Recessional

Far-called, our navies melt away;
On dune and headland sinks the fire:
Lo, all our pomp of yesterday
Is one with Nineveh and Tyre!
Judge of the Nations, spare us yet.
Lest we forget—lest we forget!
                                                                R. Kipling

Yesterday was October 2nd, and for Mexican modern history it reminds those who feel opinionated in the political field, there was a time during the 60's where young mexican students wished for a better country, with a better government, and a better establishment. They dreamed, while acting out on political meetings around Mexico City, urging the population to rise up and ask the government to clean up their act, to stop the corruption, to stop stealing the nation's goods only to make a handful of new enriched men, with the nation's wealth.

On October 2nd, they did one more of those meetings at a place called Plaza de Las Tres Culturas (roughly, Square of the Three Cultures). The square was the center of a 3-tiered building complex in the heart of Mexico City, surrounded by 7-to-10 story department buildings. The then-Mexican President Gustavo Diaz Ordaz was fed up with these acts, and decided to put an end to the movement. Through his Minister of the Interior (and president after Diaz Ordaz, presumably by appointment, since it was well known elections were just a display) he ordered to "shut up the brats for good". He didn't want to have his Olympic Games tarnished with student riots, like France, the US and other countries.

Echeverría was the operator. Police officers were posted on the building's rooftops and sent the army to close down the square, kill anything and everything in the crossfire. Army came not just by foot, but bring along bazookas and rode several tanks to close the effluent avenues. After brutally assassinating unarmed young students and any passerby who happened to be there, including children, the army and the special corps proceeded to the buildings by-the-appartment so they could discover any remaining rebel students hiding. Upon finding them, they would be dragged to the square to be killed, but if they presented resistance, they'd be killed on the spot by gun shot, and given the finishing blow on the skull by bayonet.

Eye witnesses say there was a huge bloodflow coming out of the square by the night, and all the bodies were removed by trucks, piled up like trashbags. Corpse's destination and end was not known for decades to come, hasn't been stated clearly by the government as it stants as top secret.

The 1968 Olympic Games were a huge success. Its pet was a white dove meaning peace and brotherhood among the nations, but for those who were in Tlatelolco that evening, and still wish to see a better future for their nation, the dove's wings were all stained in blood.

Animal Instinct

Currently watching: Thais - Animal Instinct (Music Video)

First of all, I was browsing the j/k music reviews on this place, (because that's how I get my updates on Japanese/Korean Pop - probably my most visible guilty pleasure), and never wondered why the owner of the place had a similar name to an old friend of mine from my Sound Click days. Surprisingly, they both were the same person: Up-And-Coming singer Thais, from Spain, who now I know she's going through the production of her first-ever mainstream full-blown album and as of August, she had already made an advance Music Video from the song they picked up as the forerunner in the production. The whole album is produced by a Spanish music producer by the name of Vitek, and it seems the style is more on the pop/electronica style, rather than the j/k Pop I've heard her singing when I met her at SC (not that there's any problem with that!).

Now, let's cut to the chase, and let me give you the music video for Animal Instinct produced by Maic

As a small note, it's been quite a long time I've lost contact with her. Basically since my first nervous breakdown, when I closed down my SC page and withdrew from the world. I suppose she doesn't remember me anymore. Her last words to me were "I'd like to hear what you're preparing next!". But I'm still hoping she remembers me somehow.

But her success is something to reckon, nonetheless! Go, Thais, Go!

An inane amount of other things have happened lately, but they all sum up to nothing to write about in this blog (or at least, they're not really meaningful to the extent of writing them down here).

Now since this is a music-related post, I must say I'm standing still with my music projects because I need some free time (which I don't actually have because of the usual reason: my job in the real-world). And anticipate I'm not getting it any sooner.

So as usual, dear casual reader, read you next time.

Jk.
