  • Migrating For Good

    newhome
    Dear Readers,

It's been a really long journey here on Xanga, sharing my thoughts with all of you. You have seen how I evolved as a college girl into a working person today. I guess in that sense, this blog has already achieved its purpose being a butterfly-morphing blog. The girl who started with zero knowledge on computers evolved into someone who at least knows how to edit pictures via Photoshop from the previous Microsoft Paint. This same girl blogged about various issues in the past to include family, relationship, and whatever that is fun fun fun will still continue to blog about the same issues but I guess a little more grown up and more composed than before.

What will happen to xanga.com/kimfluttersby? It won't remain obsolete. I'll maintain this blog here and not import all my archives over to the new blog. All that is left here will remain here. Privatised entries (2003-2004) will remain personal and my life on this blog for public viewing starts from 2005. This account will still be used to comment on fellow Xangan's blogs. I know I'll miss Xanga for its user-friendly templates and most importantly, its community. Although you will no longer receive updates from me through e-mails, I hope you will visit my new site. Bookmark it if you must. Nice to know what we're all up to even without neccessarily dropping a comment.

Will I still be kimfluttersby / butterfly Kim / flutterer Kim? Butterflies will always be a part of me and 癃 will continue to be my trademark / symbol.

It's time for a change and optimistic Kim is ever so adaptable to different environments. Time for me to move on.

    Much love and God Bless,
    Kim Ong

  • Raoul Party

    Date: 23 August 2007
    Time: 7pm
    Venue: Mandarin Oriental

FJ Benjamin held a party for its in-house brand, Raoul at Mandarin Oriental recently. It attracted 500 people including people in the entertainment and fashion industry; retailers, designers, celebrities and more. Thanks to Kelvin who invited me, I was able to meet interesting personalities and experience a well-organised event. Think glitz and casual glamour with models strutting their stuff in Raoul's latest designs, alcoholic beverage of all sorts, mouth-watering delicacies and of course, occasional eye-bopping fashion statements. Atilia and band jazzed the night just before the 500 were invited to witness the fashion show, with a nicely set-up runway walked over by leggy models. It was so lively, people were scattered all over right to the toilet, where girls were even hanging out in the ladies' room resting their feet while sipping wine and chatting away. Towards the end of the night after the fashion show, the dance floor was filled with people dancing away to Mambo Jambo. How fun, but it was nice watching them while I pretty much preferred to chat the night away for a change.

    New flavours for vodka

    By K.W. MAK

MALAYSIAN nightlife just got more exciting with the launch of the two new Smirnoff flavoured vodkas at the Sanctuary, The Curve last month.

The new flavours ?Green Apple and Vanilla ?were introduced during an exclusive party for Smirnoff enthusiasts.

mirnoff new lines of flavoured vodkas are highly versatile when it comes to mixing, and they are easy on the palates hence making it fun to drink,?said DIAGEO Brands Manager Shirley Chan.

An exclusive treat: (From left) Chan with the bloggers, Foong, Kim Ong, Suanie and Gareth.

    his distinctive characteristic will resonate most with young achievers who are adventurous and fun individuals, always on the lookout for new and original offerings.?nbsp;

The signature cocktails concocted from the new flavours were Apple Breeze Martini, Pineapple Apple Dava, Vanilla Cola and Twisted Cream.

The crowd gave their thumbs up for the new flavours when the drinks were . Four bloggers that helped spread the word of the new flavours prior to the launch were also treated to an exclusive tasting session of yet to be released Smirnoff flavoured vodkas in the ice-room.

The chill in the room, at -15 degree Celsius, could not dissuade the bloggers from gamely posing for photos with the drinks.

The bloggers, Gareth (www.shaolintiger.com), Kim Ong (www.xanga.com/kimfluttersby), Suanie (www.suanie.net) and Foong (www.xes.cx), were treated to the full range of Smirnoff Vodka flavours of raspberry, citrus and orange.

Vodka enthusiasts can look forward to the addition of all Smirnoff vodkas on the shelves of Duty Free Stores, major hypermarkets and night entertainment venues such as, Sanctuary, Zouk and The Loft (Asian Heritage Row). The retail price is RM145 for each 70cl bottle.

  • Myjojo

Hmm...speaking to Myjojo right now, multi-tasking. Been busy these days. Just setup his blog at http://josiahng.wordpress.com. Things are going on fine and well. Absolutely wonderful. As with Star Celeb, a little quiet right now but I'm garnering votes from close family and friends in this break period before the show is aired on NTV on 23 September 2007. Only then will we know who will be eliminated. Anyway, moving on with life. Alrighty, take care. Will update more with pics soon. XOXO. Can't wait for next week. Myjojo myjojo myjojo. I love myjojo. Hehe. It's quite nice to blog without sense sometimes.

  • When I grow up

Tagged by Rachel, I'm required to share with you my ambition(s) when I was a little girl. Talk about ambitions yang tak jadi, some - impossible and some that is still worth pursuing for.

    Architect
Just because I was good in art as a little girl, I thought I could be good at being an architect. Unfortunately, I was bad in maths calculation, so I dropped the idea. I'm glad I did not take that path.

    Interior Designer
Quite related to the ambition of wanting to be an architect, I thought being an interior designer would be cool, since I used to move my room furniture around almost every weekend. I remember I was a small little girl pushing the heavy furnitures around and how scratched the parquet floor tiles used to be!

    Ballet Teacher
Something worth pursuing still, but I stopped ballet for 4 years now, so how is it possible to continue? Unless I become a dance instructor of less-technical dance.

    Doctor
Everyone looked up to people who want to be a doctor, I too joined the "herd mentality". Like how ''ah-sums'' (aunties) would go, "Wah, Kim wants to be a doctor when she grows up? Clever girl!''

    Politician
I used to envy women in politics, maybe something worth pursuing still. Now that I've grown up, it's tougher than it seems!

    Lawyer
I thought I could be a lawyer because I used to get A grades for my English papers. Seriously, it did not justify for me to be a lawyer at all.

    Food Connoiseur
I love food, I would love to have a show about food, someday. I guess something still worth pursuing for.

    Travel Host
This is something I still want to achieve, and I think this may be a dream come true. Just need to go further in Star Celeb competition to get me familiar with the crowd and camera. Talk about speed-course in hosting, huh?

    Actress
I could be the Steve Urkel, Fran Fine and Fei Mau. But, these roles are only acted at home. I'm still hoping to act someday.

Okay, done with the childhood ambitions. I hereby tag the following people:

    Kinkybluefairy

  • Petai Is Now Allowed

    petaiplate
    Smelly? Nah....not really. Yummy!

Since I'll be going back to Ipoh this weekend, I decided to step into my hometown with grand entrance. Pretty much like a ''Ipoh, Petai Queen is back!" Nah, don't get me wrong. I'm not a fan of petai. I'm a fan of kangkung, a.k.a. water convulvulus. This saves Frank, Andrea, Joger, Velva, Su Lin, Jason and the rest off my stinky breath as we had initiated to meet this weekend. Not forgetting that Star Celeb roadshows are now over. Yes, so what's  the deal with Star Celeb now?

Star Celeb TV. There was no elimination round last weekend. Now, we are to sit back, relax and garner votes (promote MyStyle mobile voucher on demand) while we wait for the next round to be featured. All 60 of us will be on TV in the first episode on 23 September, NTV7, Sundays, 6pm. The public will then get to vote nationwide and decide who they like via TV.

I have been so busy over the week, curing my injured ankle (the injury came about half an hour after I did my dance performance onstage). Yes, I could not warm-up half an hour before I started dancing as I was already hosting onstage after waiting for half an hour on ground level (not backstage). But, don't worry. I'm cured. Hence the quiet good-byes onstage and the quick dissappearance. Plus I told myself, that wasn't going to be the last time I would see all of them. We would all keep in touch somehow. Either via Friendster, MSN, Facebook, blogs etc.

Back to petai. Also known as Parkia Speciosa (scientific name). The most commonly mentioned benefit of  petai is its ability to cleanse the urinary system. It also has other alleged benefits for promoting healthy function function of the kidneys. Petai is also said to be widely consumed by diabetics, who appreciate its ability to help stabilize blood sugar levels when consumed with a meal. It seems that petai also has some sort of stimulatory effects, as it is also said to improve brain-power and assist in concentration, as well as reducing the effects of PMS among women. In the oriental sense, petai is said to be a "cooling" product for the body. The wood of the petai tree is used as timber. Can't stand its smell? You'd love it after consuming it in quantities. Best eaten with sambal.

My petai meal at dinner. Yes, I come from a family who enjoys petai. With my Supermom's wonderful cooking every night, there is no need for me to eat out for convenience purposes. I spend my nights with my parents mostly. We enjoy our meals together because it's the time where we share and well....talk about Star Celeb. I grew up telling my parents almost everything. Yes, I am pampered, but I didn't have a curfew at a very young age of sixteen. Why? Was it because my parents didn't care? But, wouldn't it be contradictory judging from the way my parents support me throughout the competition each week, staying almost the whole day to help me take pictures, videos and cheer for me? I didn't have a curfew at a young age because we communicate with trust. My parents know what I do. Who I mix with. Vice-versa. My Superdad takes me out for his dinner functions as his date. My Supermom follows me for my castings at unknown places and we have fun hanging out together at the mall. I guess I'm a lucky girl who has been pampered all along, even with my sister leading me. Yet, I had wanted to break the ''youngest daughter'' syndrome. I'm as rebellious as I can be. One of them has to be the determination to win Star Celeb.

Btw, go watch Rush Hour 3 if you haven't already. I won't tell you how good it was. I'll tell you that it was amazing! Jackie is getting old, but as usual, he's great. The movie is so funny. Thanks Nabs for the movie premiere.
