  • BOO!!!

    Knock, knock.

    Who's There?

    Tom.

    Tom who?

Sorry about the absence. I've gone Hollywood. I'm the newest Cartright BayBee!!!! WOOT!

Yea, yea... No excuses. I actually haven't been on the computer much, other than to check on my UD characters, stopping by tOdd's place, and doing some work.

But I figured my poor old blog (and Xanga in general) has been suffering because of my absence. So, here I am.

I'll line up for my lashings now

Hopefully, I'll have a little more substance in my next post. I haven't felt very creative lately or had anything exciting happen to me. So, I don't feel very inspired for some reason. Oh well, I'm sure something will click. If you want to kill some time and have something to put on your blog (when you're like me and you have nothing?), try this: FACEinHOLE!

    See Ya Soon

  • Super Bowl Stuff!

Not everybody watches the big game, just  for the game itself. Some watch for the commercials. Yes… The COMMERCIALS!

It’s hard to believe, that something which most of North America TiVo’s over during regular programming hours, gains so much attention, on one special day. The much maligned TV commercial. But that’s us quirky Americans for ya.

So, if you are reading this right now (during the game), you’re probably away from the TV, waiting for the commercials to come on. That being the case, you need to go here, after the game and vote on your favorite Super Bowl commercial.

This is VERY IMPORTANT! AMERICA is COUNTING on YOU!!! VOTE NOW!!! VOTE OFTEN!!!

As a teaser here is a parody of the Danica Patrick ad that is TOO HOT for TV. This is just a little suggestive, so I’ve rated it PG 13. GO HERE!

The above will make a bit more sense, when you’ve seen the original HERE.

I hope you guys have a great day/evening. I’ll be visiting some of you guys over the next couple of days, I’ve been a little busy, but not swamped. Hopefully, my new schedule will work out. They’ve already changed it twice since last week. Oh well… It’s a job.

    ~Tom~

  • JAGS vs PATS

It's play-off time. Things are getting hectic and the anticipation is building.

Can the Jags beat the unbeaten (so far) Pats? They are capable in IMHO. After all this is the NFL. There's a lot of hype in regards to this particular game. People want to see the Jags win, just to smash the Pats winning streak to smithereens. Pat's fans are talking smack. In fact they are really, really, really annoying.
So, here's something we can ANNOY them with

    Cheers

  • Closing Out the Year.

I don’t know if I’m happy or sad to see 2007 leave us.

    * Thankfully, I’ve had a job all year. Sadly, I feel a bit overworked.

*Thankfully, I am now (as of November) entitled to a vacation. Sadly, I will spend most of it working on my house and attending to some personal business, that may be disclosed at a later date.

*Thankfully, I have been sober for 6yrs. Sadly, I am no longer spending lonely nights with women of questionable morals, whom I have picked up in bars.

    * Thankfully, I have a High Speed Cable Connection. Sadly, my cable bill is going up in January.

*Thankfully, I live in a democratic society and have the right to vote. Sadly, I don’t like ANYBODY who’s running.

*Thankfully, I have Xanga Premium. Sadly, I’m spending less and less time on it, because of *1 above.

I don’t look at the above list as complaining or not being appreciative. Believe me… last year was a LOT BETTER than the previous year.

I actually see the glass half full and bottle sitting right next to it in 2008.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

    I Got Carded!

I guess 2007 wasn’t a total loss. A young girl at the Walgreens carded me when I went to buy cigarettes.

I showed her my ID and she said… “You sure don’t look 46 mister.”

Bless her little heart. I want to marry her!

    WOOT!!!

    ZAKK WYLDE!

I thought I'd post a video by Zakk Wylde, the former Ozzy guitarist, who is also a Skynyrd fan. In his rendition of SHA, he plays all three of the guitar parts and improvises with a little shredding of his own at the end.

The video was shot in the parking lot of a music store, where he was performing for some type of event. The casual, close setting, would be great for a NEW YEAR JAM!

  • Bits and Pieces!

Well, I got all my Christmas cards mailed out today. I don’t usually send out a lot, but I got involved in this Christmas card exchange with members of a message board I frequent. There was about 30 people on the list (besides myself). They were mostly from the US, although the list also included 4 Canadians, 1 Australian, and an Ecuadorian.

I just think it’s kind of neat to get a card, and share a card with someone from a different part of the country or the world.

Close Only Counts with Horseshoes and Hand Grenades!

Doggone it! Anybody got any nail clippings from Peyton Manning!?! I’m gonna make a doll and stick pins in it!

The Jags played valiantly today and almost had a victory against Prissy Peyton and his Toy Ponies, but it was not be. A few stupid penalties by the Jaguars ruined a 2nd quarter return of an errant pass of Manning’s that was intercepted by Reggie Nelson. The Jags were around the Colts 10yrd line, when they received a couple of penalties (in 2 consecutive plays) that set em back 27yrds and had to settle for a field goal.

By the forth quarter though, the Cardiac Cats had come back with David Garrard throwing a 17-yard TD pass to Dennis Northcutt, then bulling in for a 2-point conversion, cutting it to 28-25 with 2:47 left.

The Jags decided to kick off and hope to stop the Colts, but it didn’t work. It was close, within 3 points of a win, but….

Close only counts with horseshoes and hand grenades.

  • Drive By Posting!

Just a post to let you guys know I’m still around. My hours have changed once again and I hardly have a chance to even keep up with my Xanga.

Sadly, while I was looking for something cheery to post, I found out Hughie Thomason (of the Outlaws and later Skynyrd) passed away.

All I can say is DAMN, there goes another one. I had wanted to attend The Outlaws Reunion Concert at Freebird Live awhile back and wasn’t able to. I kept telling myself… “I’ll catch em on the next one”…. Then BOOM! GONE!!

    NO HUGHIE! NO OUTLAWS!

    RIP - HUGHIE THOMASSON - August 1952 - September 9th 2007

I’ll do my best to get around to EVERYBODY this weekend *crosses fingers* I am beat, just about every day when I get home. I log-in, check a few things, then log-out… well… sometimes I leave my comp on… when I’m (GAH!!) working… lol. But that’s about it, during the week anyway.

    PEACE!
    Tom.

  • WOOT!! JAG'S 17 KC 7

    Oh, sweet, sweet, justice.

It was almost a shut-out, but that would have been cruel to the once mighty Chiefs, who have a great record at Arrowhead Stadium.

Kansas City only had 10 yards rushing on the ground and Larry Johnson was held to 5 carries for 3 yards... Ouch!

Next week we face the Houston Texans. While some may consider the Texans a rather insignificant team, Jacksonville has always struggled against them. The Texans are much better team this year and ironically, that may play in Jacksonville's favor, because it's the bad teams that give us trouble.

Then, the following Monday night? Indy comes to town! Time to beat up Prissy Peyton! WOOT!

In honor of the win, here's a YouTube video of defensive tackle Big John Henderson's pre-game ritual... Be Warned... Big John Henderson Will Eat Your Children!

  • A CHALLENGE to STILL GROOVY (KATHI).

It’s football season again and those of us who follow the sport are rallying around our favorite college or pro team.

Several people on Xanga follow football. They mention their favorite team in some or most of their post (me being no exception). I’ve seen more than a few pages done up in team colors, and while I haven’t done that here, don’t think I haven’t thought about it. In fact one of  the colors of my favorite football team (the Jacksonville Jaguars), is teal. I HAVE used that color (or variations of it) on my Xanga for years. So, that got me to thinking, after reading Kathi’s latest post about the Kansas City Chiefs…. Hmmmmmmm.

Since Kathi and I both post about our respective football teams, on a semi-regular basis, why not have a friendly little, non-monetary, wager.

    Here’s some background…

After losing two games (to Tennessee and New England respectively), with one last shot at the playoffs, the Jaguars traveled to Kansas City for a game against the Chiefs. With both teams at 8-7, this was a must win for both sides. The final score was 35-30 in favor of the Chiefs. The Chiefs' win eliminated the Jaguars from playoff contention, but propelled the Chiefs to the 6th and final spot in the AFC conference.

Oh the humanity! A 5 point loss! We needed that win so bad!

Of course, the Chiefs needed the win as well. A lot of good it did them, Prissy Peyton and the Colts knocked em out of contention the next week! We had beaten the Colts (44-17), just three weeks previously. We had almost beaten New England (24-21) the week before. If everything had worked for us, the way it worked out for KC, we may have done the improbable and beat the Colts again, possibly (a real long-shot) New England for once. What if it had been Jacksonville in the Super Bowl!?!

Impossible? Can anyone say Rex Grossman and the Chicago Bears!?! Pffffftttt!!!!
Anyway, that’s the history, the background, the whole sordid, putrid, debilitating, heart wrenching, affair.

I am a bitter man. I have become somewhat reclusive, wandering around muttering to myself. I feel nauseous when I see a red and white color scheme. I kicked Larry Johnson off my fantasy football team (ok NOT, but I thought about it). But I digress, here’s the challenge…

If the Jacksonville Jaguars lose to the Kansas City Chiefs, next week, in Kansas City… I’ll do my Xanga up in Red and White, with a BIG old KC LOGO displayed prominently on my FRONT PAGE… providing that Kathi agrees to do similar to her Xanga, only with a Jaguars theme, on her page, provided the Jaguars win

Maybe we could set a time limit of doing it for a week or two… no need for cruel and unusual punishment to either side…lol.  Just a friendly wager.

What do you think Kathi? Are you game? We can work out exact details in the chatbox I hardly ever use. That way it can be seen by everyone, and they can make suggestions there or in the comments if they want… cmon….please? I love a challenge.
