Sitting in her new 2008 black BMW Lola wondered how she got there. Not to the intersection of 13th and 90th but how she got there. In that second in her life, how she was so much more fortunate than others. Silent and cold was her car, her heart pumped blood through her veins at a normal rate. Lola’s life was a gift that she didn’t deserve, and she was just finding that out as the car behind her honked. It was intended for her. Coming out of the dream like state she had just experience, her head snapped up simotaneously. The light had turned green. Shit, Lola thought to herself. Deciding not to think anymore her car cruised down 90th St. just like normal to school. Kendall college, it was Lola’s 2nd year and she was about to turn 20. Before she knew it she was already sitting in the school parking lot and turning the car off. As she we stepping out of her car, Lola’s Franco Sarto flats caught under her seat causing the almost fall of her life. Wincing, ready for her back to hit the hard pavement, she waited but no pain came to her. Opening one eye, she found herself staring into a set of wide green eyes.
Not realizing what he said he repeated himself, "Are you alright?"
After a moment of studdering nothingness she finally replied, "Actually no, but thanks. I think I got it from here." Still laying in his arms as if he was 'dipping' her. Surprisingly her voice was sharp and cold.
"Okay." His arms slid her up right and he started to walk towards the building.
Quickly softening her eyes, she rebounded, "You go here?" She asked in the kindest voice she could find.
The unknown boy snapped around, "Oh yeah! I’m a junior."
"Awesome, I’m a sophmore. What are you majoring in?"
"I’m planning on being an architect." He replied arrogantly.
"Oh cool, interior design for me."
"Well, I’m late for class. Oh and by the way the names David." Rushing the last sentence.
"Lola, hopefully I’ll see you around." Emphasizing hopefully. As they were speaking to each other Lola couldn’t help but to take notice to the abnormal beauty of this new acquaintance.
Back to reality, Lola realized her car door was still ajar and her red Balenciaga bag laid on the passenger seat. Scrambling for it she knocked a couple of loose items onto the floor of her car. Curiously, she glanced up as she was picking up the random objects. She looked intently into the foggy morning searching aimlessly for him, for David. He walked with an unordinary sophistication. As if the air around him was glowing. Remembering her class would be starting in less than a minute she left the stray items on the floor and slammed the door shut.
Merchandising made Lola want to scratch her eyes with a fork. Professor Langely was in a bitter estranged mood, he had confided in a bunch of young adults that he and his wife of 20 years had seperated recently. A part of Lola wanted to leave after the 30 minutes speech about commitement, but stayed instead. The rest of the day dragged on as if she were trapped in the desert for 3 days without food and shelter, it was wrteched.
Black Ray Ban sunglasses rested upon her shoulder length black hair. Lola drived back to her apartment which was only a 5 minute drive. She was pulling into the garage in no time, David's voice was echoing inside her head in the clean voice of his, the names David. Could anybody speak that beautifully? His gorgeous face lurked in Lola's mind. Picturing her highschool sweet heart of 3 years also appeared in her over cramped head. His name was also David, what a coincidence. Lola could remember when her over protective mother had warned, Lola, I promise you. You will get your heart broken. Lola plopped down on her brown sectional, her apartment looked like it came straight out of a Home magazine. Recalling all the times she took her mother and father for granted, Lola couldn't wait to see her parent's again, they had flown off the Paris to celebrate their anniversary.
Lola's child hood was a very good one, better than most. She was very fortunate having her family adopt her. Sometimes Lola would wonder what it'd be like to be in Korea. Always picturing herself on her knees in a ktichen scrubbing away. But in her old home, her motehr paid someone to do that task.
Abruptly the apartment door slammed interrupting Lola's concentration.
The very farmiliar voice of her roomate Malo echoed through the entry way, "Lo, I'm home!"
Malo was also attending Kendall, studying to be a fashion designer. She was a very different tpe of person. Malo had her own culture, her own way of life. No one had ever told Malo what to do. This is the reason Lola and Malo beacme best friends. They were complete opposites, balancing eachother out.
"Hey, Malo!, I met, well tripped and got saved by a cute boy walking into class today." Waiting to catch the sight of a happy Malo bouncing into the room.
Soon enough Malo was running from the door towards her, her long brown hair flew in the air as if there was an invisible fan blowing it back. Malo raced to the sectional, keys still in hand, "Dish."
The girls still acted as if they were little high schoolers when it came to boys. Especially Lola after her 3 year romance which was her first real relationship. Romance was a tricky subject when it came to Lola.
Quickly repeating the incidence that happened earlier in the day she added, :He was an absolute, with out a doubt, a 10."
Malo nodded enthusiastically when needed, smiled to Lola, and even gasped in surprise. But Malo's eyes were saying somehing else. Lola, not pressing her luck terminated the conversation and asked, "What about you and Philip?" Philip, the ying to Malo's yang, but they were on and off again. More on than off lately.
Solemnly, Malo shrugged. Lola had struck the chord, Philip was causing the painful expression on Malo's face. Regretting the change of topic Lola excused herself by patting Malo on the back and marching off into the direction of her room, the one with the biggest closet of course.
As she entered her room the aura seemed pleasant, sitting at her desk she pulled out her No. 2 pencil and began to sketch her future home, the home of her dreams, that would someday become reality. With Lola and her family backing her up 100% nothing could stop her ideas into becoming actual possibilites.
I need to spell check again. It's too late though.
