What do you all think? Does a toe swell and bruise like this if it's not broken? Yet, I don't want to pay to go to the doctor for a toe... This is what it looks like 12 hours after I banged it. It's about twice the size of my other pinkie toe. I spent a lot of time in the dirt today, so at first we thought my foot was just dirty, but then I washed it. I now have it taped to the next toe, but it hurts more because it's being made to straighten when it wants to be folded in a weird way- I have strange pinkie toes. My toenail now appears to be on the side of my foot, not the top? Dislocated perhaps? Eww. Feet are gross. Dipnetting tomorrow-what a lovely way to celebrate Leah's birthday!!! Have a cuppa to celebrate, and enjoy starting your DTS, it looks like fun!
| I know I've kept everyone in the dark about our lives, and I apologize. It's been busy, it seems. Ezra is still snotty and requiring many hours in my arms. Eric's birthday was lovely, however, I didn't take a single picture. Perhaps Rachel could fill us in on that-she had a camera. We spent last weekend at the airshow [goodness, I can't believe it's Wednesday already!] and it was fun. What wasn't fun was taking two hours to get in. "Avoid the lines-carpool and take the shuttle..." It took us almost an hour to get from Bartlett High School on to base. The lines were long, and there was no advantage to taking the shuttle. The shuttle waited in an endless line of cars and large noisy diesel engines, smashed on a crowded bus full of cranky, smelling of stale cigarette smoke people, with all the cars who wanted to park there too.
Today I make lists, scratch them, list some more. I think I may have broken my baby toe. The obscenities that flew through my head in a not very lady-like manner when I tripped over the leg of the rocker have cleared the air, but the pain persists. Ouch. Tomorrow we leave for our first dipnetting trip to Kasilof. If we are lucky this weekend, we can spend more of our time in two weeks having fun and visiting, and not worrying about landing our limit of 75 salmon. I've been enjoying looking at past trips-oh the joys of blogging! 2006 2007
We are having a red bean week, and being so clever, I put the beans in a jar to soak overnight. Well, I used a tapered mouth quart, not a wide, and the beans swelled as they soaked. And got quite stuck.
I started to lose track of time as I scraped them out, one bean at a time, pop popping.
Our garden is slow and sad, but we will have potatoes, yes we will. Part of the joys of camping include processed foods that I didn't make myself. Things like chips, marshmallows, paper plates left over from weddings. Grandpa Dale is back from Montana which brings grandchildren great joy. Tackle boxes are untangles, pixees are purchased. Some have rattles. Woo-hoo! I've wasted Ezra's nap blogging and now I have friends coming over. Off I go...
| Happy Birthday 30th Eric!
And thank you to everyone who made his gift possible. He cried. Ezra spends the day ill, full of snot and tears. Pizza party at five. House cleaning to commence after church.
This is not his birthday cake. For that he's having carrot. This is Tammy's Whole Wheat Strawberry Shortcake. It's delicious. We used some honey in the whipping cream instead of sugar. It baked up huge in the pan, but fell nicely. We had a very limited amount of stawberries so we sugared them to make them saucy and go a little furthur. Have a lovely day.
