    BLIND MELON with Rufus Tree!

    Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 8pm

    Tickets on sale now
at Ticketmaster.com, and The Rave Box Office - 414-342-RAVE

Introspective, rough and rocking, Blind Melon shot to stardom with their massive #1 “No Rain” (featuring the dancing bee). They produce some of the purest rock imaginable, completely devoid of ‘90s production tricks on hits like “Galaxie” and “Tones of Home.” Forlorn vocals travel over acoustic strums and retro yet refreshing sounds that feature supreme jamming interplay and looping, swiveling guitars and ultimately earned the band Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best Rock Performance. A blissful vibe of hippie positivity floats by in a surreal swirl of chords and a heavy, authentic vibe inspired by classic pillars of rock like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Grateful Dead and Led Zeppelin. Revel in the roots of rock with Blind Melon!

ADVOCATE FOR TRUTH (a poem by Caleb Kruse)

The truth is, I don’t want to know the problem
I want to know what takes away the pain
I want to know the least that is required of me
I want to know the most that I can gain

I think that I’m an advocate for truth now
But in my truthful moments I can see
That when I see the truth I don’t accept it
I trade it in for silver and reject it

The truth is freeing more than any lies
The truth is, that’s not what I’m looking for
The truth is all that threatens my disguise
And the sad truth is, that nothing scares me more

I think that I’m an advocate for truth now
But in my most truthful moments I can see
That when I hear the truth I don’t obey it
I hear the rooster crow and I betray it

The truth is that my world is very little
The truth is most offensive to my pride
The truth would flip my tables in the temple
And tell me not to sell my goods inside

Well aren’t we all such advocates for truth now?
But in our truthful moments can we see?
That when we find the truth we just deny it
We take on a hill and crucify it

About Me

  • Rufus Tree is a Chicago-based indie rock band who has been seen opening for the likes of Blind Melon, Sonic Flood, the Normals and Derek Webb from Caedmon's Call. They have had guest performances on their two CD's by the Grammy Award winner Phil Keaggy, Dove Award winner Mitch McVicker, and Rockettown's Alathea. Their use of eclectic instruments such as harmonica and hammered dulcimer have helped them garner a diverse audience.

hey...I'm starting to help a friend of mine out promoting bands in the Hampton Roads area. He has a list of about 36 artists, but will need to firm it up some more. We are both looking for venues in this area, including churches and other places that would be good to for these and other artists
