You see, ACCA does not usually require assignments to be done, it's a 100% exam- based course.
Not unless you're also doing your thesis for a degree from OBU (Oxford Brooks University) Which is what I'm doing now, in my last year of ACCA.
So besides blogging, Facebooking and all sorts of rubbish I do online, This thesis, the one single time I actually need the internet for my research and analysis, Of all the times it could have happened,
My internet crashed.
It happened quite dramatically actually.
It was a cold wet Saturday evening and the sky was dark outside. Firmly decided on starting my thesis that very evening, I stayed home alone while my family went out for dinner. I brought out my files and papernotes to the computer table and checked my email first, (read: procrastinating) when suddenly a bright bolt of lightning blinded the skies followed by an immediate boom of thunder. I shut my eyes and cringed, waiting for the thunder to roll away. I opened my eyes and it was pitch black, with the eerie sound of deafening silence. A BLACKOUT. Followed by my wails. NoooOOoooOoo..........
I'm not even going to get into the details of me being afraid of the dark, Of me desperately feeling around the entire messy-as-hell table for my handphone for some light, Of me giving up and feeling my way into my room to get my iPod (for some light), Of me walking downstairs to find the main power box, all the while thinking, "My, what a big empty creepy new house I live in."
Nope. No details. (Btw i unknowingly left my handphone in the living room, heh, explains why I get miss- calls so often)
My main concern was on my modem. Or more accurately, my fried modem. Possibly a fried router too, that's gonna cost me a bomb to replace. And more importantly, my deadline for submitting the thesis to my mentor.
...................... panic button: on.
And I have some other things I'm supposed to complete hopefully before I leave for Bangkok this Saturday, which requires me using the blasted internet, so really, thanks, perfect timing.
The only good thing to all of this, my dad wasn't mad at me. Surprisingly though, he usually would be furious. But I think seeing me in a blind panic made him go easy on me, heh.
Spent the whole of next day (Sunday) at Alda's studio PurpleHouz, working on my thesis over the internet,
thus forcing him to go to work on a Sunday as well thank youuu.
And now I'm using the college library's internet which is slowish, and I'm exhausted from 6 hours of class and hungry and want to go home and going to face the mad traffic jam, -_- And now I see that my Photobucket bandwidth has exceeded.
Greaaaaat.

Was @ Laundrybar, The Curve, again on Thursday for the live performances. And this time, no not for Brokenscar Fly fm's Campur Charts event was on, and some bands performing included one named Silent Scream. Heard the ad on the radio, and some people in college were talking about them performing, so I thought heck I've never heard them play before I might as well go check it out.
Silent Scream.
The thing is, and I suppose you can say the reason for this particular fascination is that, John, the lead singer of the band, is a lecturer of ACCA in Sunway College.
My ex-lecturer, two good semesters ago.
He lectures Financial Reporting, under the wing of veteran lecturer Ms Menon (you may recognise her name as I have ranted on in the past about her infamous weekend classes and strict demeanor)
It is widely known among us students that John is also in a band, which of course is fascinating (and waayyy cooler than being a dancer + ACCA student! :p)
and OH don't even get me started with his fan-base in college
And am I one of them ditsy girls who swoons as he walks by, you ask? Of course not! ..............*cough*
Hellew! -me, Jm, Carina, Hannah.
This being my first time even hearing any of their songs, I was mildly surprised by them. They were actually pretty good :) And one or two songs I vaguely recognise as some of those I hear on the radio but never found who the artist was, ha!
Big turn out.
After their set was over, I bumped into John whom I didn't think would recognise me, Because he taught me 2 sems ago anyway, and my Financial Reporting class is FRIGGIN HUGE, what with 250-300 students and always fills up giant Lecture Theatre 8 to the brim, and I never sit in front because I refuse to be there 3 hours before class even starts just to claim the front row seats, So naturally I'd expect him not to recognise me.
But he does :) ah that's always nice.
And he added "And you have a famous blog."
and i swear, no matter how many times this sort of conversation takes place, my face will always be
"I stumbled into it some time ago. People always assume lecturers are OLD and computer illiterate and wouldn't know what Myspace or Facebook or a blog is."
And you know what, he does have a point there.
Kailash, Alda, Jm, Kevin, me and my new favo T-shirt :)
Dorks :)
More dorks. And spot the Cynthia!
Stop pulling my leg.
Oh, and I was speaking to some band members of Silent Scream, one of them is in med school, and I heard another is a law student, WTF wow. And John's completed his ACCA and is obviously a certified chartered accountant. Is having a profession a necessary requirement to join the band
John and me and nobody else.
Lil Miss Naughty and Jomi.
FUNNY STORY.
Albert does this thing when he takes a picture with you, where he goes BAAH! edit: WASSAAPPPP! right before the camera clicks, which shocked the living daylights out of me when he did it with me and my facial expression terus hilang =.= Shoot, I wonder whose camera it was, sure can kena blackmail for it.
And so he did it again with Jiameei and look at what scared timid face she pulled LOL SO CUTE

I was in Penang when I receive the text message from Nazrul.
"You were on tv for the interview! You can replay it at NTV7's website tomorrow."
Oh No. You mean the editor really kept it? WHAT WAS HE THINKING.
Was at a press launch last week when Nazrul made me do this short random interview (in exchange for sushi) I didn't know I get uncomfortable and blabbery when a video camera is pointed at my face, heh Well now I know.
"Yasmeen! (because we address each other by random names, yes) You're on NTV7 twice dei, go see timothytiah.blogspot.com and look at interview and Yellow Coverage Fellow part."
twice?
So I found the recap video from last Sunday's Edisi 7 news, it was an interview with Timothy Tiah, co-founder of Nuffnang ads. During the interview, a couple of blog pages were featured along with.
First page that showed up, Ah yes, Kenny Sia's blog, figures.
After that,Yep, Joyce's pretty famous too.
Next one, --- How the heck did that get up there?!
:+:+:
And God, i can talk really fast and nonsensically.
This video messes up my
layout width T___T
FYI, im a Maxis user :) giving my two cents on those creepy yet iconic yellow people. Hmmn, no wonder they cut out the first half of the interview.

Recent conversations I somehow seem to remember. Well of course I remember them, they haunt my dreams at night.
Aaron.L: Now I know why you don't have a boyfriend. Me: Excuse me? Aaron.L: I
don't know which guy on earth is able to keep up with your busy
schedule. Heck, i should feel honored that you agreed to meet me today. Me: EH wtf stoppit, that's rubbish ok. Aaron.L: It's true! And i thought *i* was the social butterfly, until I saw you in action last Thursday at Laundry. Me:
and with Hansen, whose job revolves very much around PR,
"I'm the one doing the PR, but it seems like you're doing way more PR than me."
*defeated*
There seems to be this consistent joke going around that in order for
people to meet up with me I need to be booked days in advance. WHAT RUBBISH. But highly amusing :p
I think it started with Brian. Always had something to say about me
and my little black book, with which I pen in all my appointments
into. Which then evolved to my BIG black book.
And then someone 'booked' me one week in advance, when of course I was free. "Finally! See Thia, must book you one week in advance."
Then Jiameei too. WHAT NONSENSE, NO APPOINTMENTS NEEDED FOR YOU <3
A lot lah, the little little remarks I've been getting. And I always nudge them and give my apologetic smile, but sometimes I do wonder. What the heck am I so busy with? I don't excatly know, just meeting people, meeting friends,
meeting customers, meeting him, classes, parties, random odd-jobs,
dance rehearsals, necessary errands to run..... I don't know. Just a lot of running around here there nowhere really.
But I'll admit, I love being busy :) Love the buzz of working within a tight schedule.
And hey, I won't be busy forever, right? I find it a privilege to be absolutely swamped with work sometimes. Sometimes.
Brokenscar @ Laundry.
I better blog this nownownow, cos I will be in Penang all of Sunday for a show, (yes im dancing again GOD I MISS IT.) and that means 4am meet at Fiona's house *gasp* Venue rehearsal at noon, showtime in the evening, come home at midnight. Bleh confirm pancit the next day in class.
@ Laundry.
Brought me mates along this time, to make the Groupie group even bigger, heh :)
Kevin and Alda front and centre.
Now, I reckon I've been to most of their gigs ever since Kevin got back from Melb, But this show at Laundry was definitely something else. At the risk of sounding like a deranged fan, I'd have to say their performance that night was pretty bloody amazing. I dunno, it was as if all the members of Brokenscar was high on something that night, their energy level was insane! Really glad I brought my friends to watch them this round, everyone was having fun ;)
And of course Alda bassist extraordinaire / attention whore had to be so playful that night, running all over the stage and finally settling on top of the speakers, right where the video camera was Caught a nice view of his bum throughout the night, blown up on the big screen
They played a few of their classics like Scratch and Down, and a few other newer ones which was surprisingly good even at first listen! Shooting Star took me a couple of listens to love, but now it's definitely one of my favourites. And Alda's alltime favourite, heh
Shooting Star.

Xanne and Singz sucking on remnants of cocktails.
I haven't hung out at Laundry for the longest time prior to this. And that night - to my surprise - EVERYBODY was there. Didn't think many people (that i know) still go to Laundry that often, but maybe it's for the Moonshine event. I thought my group of friends was big, then I run around a bit more and I bump into every-fricking-body I haven't seen in a long time, so quickquick catch up sessions Felt horrible for leaving my friends at the table for so long, though. Some new friends there too. And before I knew it, it was late and they all wanted to leave for some late night grub. Kerabu, to be precise. Man, I have to go back there (to some mamak at Kota D'sara) for their super special spicy damn yummy kerabu
