| off to Sabah...Crossing the sea to visit my birthplace and some relatives. Its been a year since I've seen my grandma and I look forward to this trip. However, it is becoming increasingly difficult to communicate to her. No, shes not losing her hearing/sight etc but my Hokkien has deteriorated. Unfortunately, learnings languages is not like learning how to ride a bike. You never forget how to ride a bike even though you haven't rode one in ages (except maybe for my bro. remember Singpore? hehe), but over the years, since my grandma moved out, I have had no chance to practice my so-called Hokkien.
Now I speak to her using a mixture of English, Malay, Mandarin and sign language. Sad huh? At times, I'm not sure whether she understands me or whether she's just being polite.
Will be back on Monday. Leaving on Thursday evening. Anybody wanna go watch a Bus Company gig on Tuesday??
Terry! When you wanna have dinner?

| seasons greetingsGong Hey Fatt Choy!
Malaysia is just too hot. I find it amusing that people actually wear sweaters/hoodies outdoors. Such poseurs!
Mom was marking her mountain of schoolbooks (RESPECT your teachers!) and showed me this...
"...worthless to do. too easy... "
Kids these days... No one in my time would pull a stunt like this. |

Medium-rare sirloin steak on a bed of rocket with red wine vinaigrette sandwiched by two toasted buns. Yum. "Anyone can cook!" - the late Chef Gusteau |
